The story of the Lord of the Raghu dynasty spans a hundred crore verses in its vast expanse. Each and every syllable of that divine narrative has the power to destroy even the greatest of sins, for Rama's life is itself a scripture of redemption.

Meditate upon Rama, whose complexion is as dark and beautiful as a blue lotus, whose eyes gleam like fresh lotuses in bloom. Visualize him accompanied by Janaki (Sita) and Lakshmana, his crown of matted hair adorned with regal splendor, standing as the very image of divine grace.

He holds a sword, a quiver, a bow, and arrows in his hands, and he is the destroyer of all demons who roam in darkness. Though he is the unborn and all-pervading Supreme Lord, he manifested by his own sweet will to protect and redeem the world.

Sugrīveśah katim pātu sakthinī Hanumat prabhuh Ūrū Raghūttamah pātu rakshah kula vināśakrt
May the lord of Sugriva protect my waist, and may the master of Hanuman guard my hips. May the best of the Raghu dynasty protect my thighs, for he is the one who brought about the total destruction of the demon race.

Those who roam the netherworld, the earth, or the skies, and even those who move about in disguise with deceptive powers, cannot so much as glance upon a person who is protected by the sacred names of Rama.

One who wears this hymn around the neck, protected by Rama's name, which is the single mantra capable of conquering the entire world, holds all supernatural powers and accomplishments in the palm of their hand.
Vajrapañjara nāmedam yo Rāma kavacham smaret Avyāhatājñah sarvatra labhate jayamangalam
This hymn is called the Vajrapanjara, the diamond-like impenetrable cage of protection. Whoever remembers this armor of Rama shall have their will unobstructed everywhere, and they shall attain victory and auspiciousness in all things.

Ādishtavān yathā svapne Rāmarakshām imām Harah Tathā likhitavān prātah prabuddho Budhakaushikah
Just as Lord Shiva commanded and revealed this Rama Raksha in a dream, exactly so did the sage Budha Kaushika faithfully write it down upon awakening at dawn. Not a single syllable was altered, for what Shiva speaks is eternal truth.

Tarunau rūpasampannau sukumārau mahābalau Pundarīka viśālākshau chīra krshnājinā ambarau
The two brothers are youthful and endowed with extraordinary beauty, gentle and tender yet possessed of immense strength. Their eyes are wide like white lotuses, and they are clad in garments of bark and black deerskin, the noble attire of forest-dwelling princes.

Phalamūlāśinau dāntau tāpasau brahmachārinau Putrau Daśarathasyaitau bhrātarau Rāma Lakshmanau
Living on fruits and roots, self-restrained, practicing austerity and celibacy, these two are the sons of King Dasharatha: the noble brothers Rama and Lakshmana. Though princes born to rule, they chose the ascetic path of the forest with perfect devotion.
Śaranyau sarvasattvānām śreshthau sarva dhanushmatām Rakshah kula nihantārau trāyetām no Raghūttamau
They are the refuge of all living beings and the foremost among all wielders of the bow. They are the destroyers of the entire demon race. May these two jewels of the Raghu dynasty protect us always.

Ityetāni japan nityam madbhaktah śraddhayānvitah Aśvamedhādhikam punyam samprāpnoti na samśayah
My devotee who recites these sacred names daily with sincere faith attains merit greater than that of performing the Ashvamedha, the most exalted of Vedic sacrifices. Of this there is no doubt whatsoever.

Those who praise Rama, whose complexion is dark like tender durva grass, whose eyes are like lotuses, and who wears radiant yellow garments, singing his divine names, are freed from the cycle of worldly bondage and rebirth.

He is Kakutstha, an ocean of compassion, a treasure house of virtues, beloved of the learned, and the very embodiment of dharma. He is the emperor among kings, ever true to his word, the son of Dasharatha, dark-complexioned and serene in form. I bow to that Raghava who delights all the worlds, the crowning jewel of the Raghu lineage, the great enemy of Ravana.

Sri Rama Raksha Stotram
By Sage Budha Kaushika · 38 Verses · Ancient
The Sri Rama Raksha Stotram is a powerful protective hymn revealed by Lord Shiva himself to the sage Budha Kaushika in a dream. Upon waking at dawn, the sage faithfully transcribed every verse exactly as Shiva had spoken it. Structured as a divine armor (Vajrapanjara Kavacham), the stotram invokes the presence of Lord Rama upon every part of the devotee's body, shielding them from all harm. It is traditionally found in the Brahmanda Purana and is one of the most widely recited protective prayers in the Hindu tradition, especially on Ram Navami and during times of difficulty.
